Frequently Asked Questions

Control Panel Instructions:          Ademco           Genesis 824           Morse Systems

IMPORTANT REMINDERS:

Remember that any time an alarm has been activated (Ademco models), you must clear the alarm memory by entering your combination and #1 again before you can arm the system; otherwise, the keypad will continue to display "ALARM #." Enter Command 4 on Radionics panels.

Please remember to test the alarm system's communication if you ever have any phone work done. We want to make sure the system is communicating after the workmen have completed and left the residence. Call our central station to test the system.

How do I bypass a specific zone on my security panel?

(Ademco models) Enter your 4-digit combination, the number 6 key and the zone number that you want to bypass. All must be entered consecutively or the bypass feature will not complete. The system keypad will then indicate "Zone Bypassed."

Should I let Command One Security know if I am going to be out of town for any period of time?

Yes! It's good for our central station to know because it makes a difference in the way your account is handled if the alarm should activate.

How do I enter an extra combination into my alarm system?

Please call our office, and our central station personnel can help you with that addition. It's easier for our central station personnel to do it from here. If we are unable to add the extra combo, we can generate a service order to get the addition/change completed.

Is there a certain number of responding people I should have on my confidential data list?

No! The more the better! In case there is a problem with the alarm system, we would like to know that we can actually make contact with you, even through a family member or friend, and advise you of the situation.

Can I use my alarm system if the power is out to my home?

Yes! Your system comes equipped with a backup battery that takes over if the power should go out. Once the power is restored, the battery will then re-charge itself.

How often should my backup battery be changed?

Under normal conditions, they last four to five years, depending on the battery. Your panel will notify us when your battery is low and we will call to schedule replacement.

Why is it that when the alarm trips, my phones go dead?

The alarm system siezes your telephone line to communicate to our central station. Once the signals have been transferred, only then will the line be released. This is necessary to prevent burglers from "busying out" your phone line so it cannot communicate to our central station.
